HOW WE STARTED:
In 1998, Passion Works began as a collaborative community studio housed within a sheltered workshop where people with and without developmental differences made art together. The studio became a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2018, and it remains a trailblazer in creating integrated settings where people investigate their own talents and interests while participating in community-based programming and creative employment opportunities.
Passion Works creates opportunities for all people to explore and socially connect through the process of making art. We follow the aesthetic lead, talents, and interests of people with
developmental differences and support collaborations to encourage vibrant and inclusive communities. We upcycle otherwise discarded materials and produce environmentally responsible items. No voice, no resource, and no region are abandoned as the studio fosters purpose, connection, and belonging.
VISIT OUR STUDIO:
Passion Works creates art, spectacle, and merchandise reflecting the spirit of Athens, Ohio. The studio is located in the heart of Appalachian Ohio with retail partners across the U.S. Visitors are welcome to tour the studio, see the Passion Flower being made (aka, the official flower of
Athens), play with puppets, jump into collaborative art making, and shop for funky art.
